Early Warning System

Working with insurance companies across Canada, IBC provides data collection, compilation and reporting services to the General Insurance Statistical Agency (GISA) as required under the Automobile Statistical Plan (ASP) and the Commercial Liability Statistical Plan (CLSP). The new Early Warning System (EWS) project enhances data quality for participating insurers.

Data Collection for GISA

The Early Warning System (EWS) project is an example of IBC’s work as a service provider to the General Insurance Statistical Agency (GISA). IBC provides data collection, compilation and reporting services.

Improving Data Quality – IT Renewal

In Phase 1 of the IT Renewal Program, IBC delivered enhanced data quality functionality to the property and casualty insurance industry. Phase 1 included an error correction facility and a submission management application for automobile data.

Across Canada, insurers submit data using the updated ASP. Using the Phase 2 delivery of the IT Renewal Program, in particular the Early Warning System (EWS), IBC reviews all submitted and accepted automobile and commercial liability data. This process leverages anomaly rules derived from pre-existing automobile profiles that, before the implementation of Phase 2, IBC reviewed manually.

Training, User Guides and More Support

Insurers are automatically apprised of any data anomalies and work with their assigned IBC analysts to resolve anomalies. If you have questions related to EWS, please contact your designated data quality analyst.
