Information about federally regulated home, car and business insurance companies is provided on the Office of Superintendent of Financial Institutions website in the List of insurance companies and fraternal benefit societies authorized to carry on business in Canada under the Insurance Companies Act . Changes like amalgamations, dissolutions, name changes and transfers to other jurisdictions, are updated in the Notes .

The organizations listed below are responsible for licensing brokers and agents. Contact these organizations to verify the licensing status of a broker or agent in your province. Some allow you to browse the lists on the Internet. Others you will have to contact by phone or in person.
