Early Warning System (EWS)

As a service provider to the General Insurance Statistical Agency (GISA), IBC provides data collection, compilation and reporting services as required by GISA under the Automobile Statistical Plan (ASP) and Commercial Liability Statistical Plan (CLSP).

The Phase I delivery of the IBC IT Renewal Program in January 2008 delivered the functionality for data quality to the industry, including the Error Correction facility and the Submission Management application for automobile data, and insurers have been submitting data using the updated ASP since this delivery.

Since April 2010, IBC started profiling submitted and accepted automobile data in an automated fashion, using the Early Warning System (EWS). This delivery will leverage anomaly rules derived from the existing set of automobile profiles that IBC currently reviews manually, but in an automated fashion. Insurance company representatives will be apprised of data anomalies automatically by this system and will work in concert with their assigned IBC analysts in order to resolve the anomalies.

In early 2012, IBC started profiling submitted and accepted Commercial Liability Data in the same automated fashion, using the Early Warning System (EWS), to be apprised of data anomalies automatically by this system and will work in concert with their assigned IBC analysts in order to resolve the anomalies.

If you have any questions related to EWS, please send an email to your designated IBC Data Quality Analyst.
