Top 10 Insurance Crimes of the Year

IBC collects and annually publishes some of the most outrageous examples of people trying to get away with committing an insurance crime. Some of the attempts are pretty hare-brained, while others are downright dangerous.

Despite the obvious differences among the schemes and how they were executed, they have one thing in common – the perpetrators all got caught! Those fraudulent claims weren’t paid, but other people continue to try similar schemes and sometimes get away with their crimes. As a result, insurance crime represents a cost to every honest policyholder – more than 15% of home and auto insurance premiums is used to pay for insurance crime.

If you know of, or suspect, an insurance crime, and you refuse to pay for a crime you didn’t commit, click here to take action.

Every year, IBC releases its newest entrants into its Hall of Shame. Click on a link below to review past years “winners.”
