Emergency Preparedness - Disaster Survival Tips

​Natural disasters are hitting Canadians with increasing frequency and severity. It’s important to understand the natural hazards to which your community is exposed so you can plan ahead for worst-case scenarios.​

​The Institute for Catastrophic Loss Reduction (ICLR) suggests simple steps that you can take before, during and after a natural disaster. Protect yourself, your family and your home in the event of:

​Be Prepared for Any Disaster

Create a family emergency plan. This should include escape routes from your home and your community. Choose an emergency meeting place where your family can gather.


Every family emergency plan should include a disaster safety kit.  A disaster kit can help you through the first 72 hours following a major disaster.
