Studies

IBC recognizes that climate change is underway. IBC studies assess the increased claims frequency and severity resulting from severe weather and natural disasters.

IBC plays a leadership role in conducting research and developing sound strategies to help Canadians protect themselves and their property from severe weather related events.

Recent studies commissioned or conducted by IBC include the following:

  • Telling the Weather Story is a June 2012 report by Dr. Gordon McBean, one of Canada's foremost climatologists, and the Institute for Catastrophic Loss Reduction.
  • EQ Symposium Report - The goal of the symposium was to spark conversations and exchange knowledge and ideas across disciplines. By all accounts, the symposium was a major success, and participants expressed a strong interest in continuing the conversation.
