The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, in partnership with IBC, has launched the Insurance Validation Program (IVP), a digital insurance reporting system. This system allows IBC to verify that the vehicle identification number (VIN) submitted with an insurance transaction matches the vehicle information registered with the provincial Ministry of Transportation.
It also enables the Province to confirm that motorists have the auto insurance coverage required by law.
IVP applies to all passenger-plated, privately owned or leased passenger vehicles with a model year of 1983 and later.
Vehicle owners can ensure the Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV) has their correct VIN and insurance information by submitting a picture of their VIN online at RMV – VIN Confirmation.
