Summary

Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC) is looking for an experienced and self-motivated Research Analyst to join its Policy Department.

Policy department is responsible for undertaking research and analysis on behalf of Canada's home, car and business insurers for the purpose of bringing insurers' perspective to shaping provincial and federal policies and legislation.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Liaison with industry's senior finance and actuarial staff to support the industry's advocacy work. 
  • Communication and liaison work for industry committees.
  • Prepare relevant briefing notes. 
  • Perform ad-hoc research and project coordination duties as needed.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have at least 2 years of experience in economic or financial analysis and a master's degree in economics/related discipline. Financial industry experience and knowledge would be considered assets.

In addition, the successful candidate will have demonstrated the following:

  • Sound understanding of economic/financial theory.
  • Proven analytical skills and ability to make recommendations.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and evidence of teamwork.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Discretion in working with sensitive or proprietary information.
  • Demonstrated self-direction, judgment, discretion and initiative.
  • Strong organizational skills.
