Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC) is the national trade association representing home, car and business insurance companies.

Reporting to the Senior Vice-President Human Resources & Administration, the Human Resources Manager is responsible for delivering all facets of recruiting success throughout the organization. This will be achieved through the development of recruiting plans, employing traditional sourcing strategies and resources as well as developing new, creative recruiting ideas. The Human Resources Manager plays a critical role in ensuring we are hiring the best possible talent by developing and executing recruiting plans, networking through industry contacts, association memberships, trade groups, and employees coordinating/implementing college recruiting initiatives, administrative duties, and recordkeeping.

In addition to Talent Acquisition, you will also be responsible for the development, coordination, facilitation, and implementation of Human Resources initiatives and solutions with respect to employee relations, performance management, talent management and HR programs such as coaching and mentoring. This position establishes and maintains highly collaborative working relationships with business leaders, managers, peers, and employees at all levels, providing day-to-day advice and expertise to support and further initiatives and resolutions.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Managing the end-to-end recruitment life cycle from drafting job postings, candidate search, screening, selection, offer through to closing and placement.
  • Assist in the development of retention strategies and manages the implemented programs
  • Manages the renewal of our policies and programs ensuring they are compliant and are best practices in the industry 
  • Manages the day-to-day activities related to employee relations
  • Manages the day-to-day activities related to performance management
  • Develops partnerships with IBC management to act as a business partner, coach and consultant in all relevant areas
  • Partners with stakeholders to identify and understand their need while effectively communicating and executing Corporate HR strategies and programs
  • Ensures ongoing compliance with all Federal and Provincial legislative standards (e.g. Ontario Employment Standards Act, Ontario Pension Benefits Act, Canada Labour Code, Human Rights Code, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, etc.)
  • Identifies, evaluates and manages third party service providers
  • Negotiates, renews and manages associated contracts within realm of responsibility
  • Works collaboratively with Corporate Communication in the development of communication plans to inform and engage employees
  • Leverages technology to streamline HR processes corporately and within the HR department

Qualifications   

  • Completion of a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources (or equivalent field)
  • Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation is preferred
  • 10 years progressive relevant HR experience
  • 5+ years of high volume recruitment preferably in corporate and/or search firms
  • Excellent knowledge of and experience in current recruitment and selection principles, standards, methodologies and employment trends
  • Proven track record of successfully placing high performing talent
  • Thorough knowledge of industry trends and best practices in all functional areas of HR
  • In-depth knowledge of all pertinent Provincial and Federal legislation
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent judgment and discretion in managing highly sensitive and confidential information
  • Ability to work both independently or in a team environment
  • Bilingualism is an asset
