Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC) encourages drivers to have their say in consultation

January 9, 2019 (TORONTO) – Today, the Ontario government announced the Putting Drivers First consultation, asking consumers and businesses for ideas on how insurance rates could be lowered. Comments can be submitted up to February 15, 2019. Consumers can share their views here.

Ontario's auto insurers support the Government of Ontario's effort to hear consumers' stories and we encourage the province's drivers to take this opportunity to have their say.

"We hope that this process encourages constructive feedback to support positive changes to auto insurance for Ontarians," said Kim Donaldson, Vice-President, Ontario, IBC. "We have been calling for changes to how auto insurance is regulated for years. The province's auto insurance system is outdated and Ontario drivers pay too much for their insurance. We believe there is a better approach."

Donaldson added, "We're encouraged that consumers are being asked to share their views, and we look forward to working with the government to fix auto insurance in this province."
