Insurance Bureau of Canada partners with The Weather Network - IBC becomes a valued source for preparing for severe weather


NOVEMBER 3, 2016 (TORONTO) – Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC) has formalized a partnership with Pelmorex Media Inc., the parent company of The Weather Network and MétéoMédia, to share tips about preparing for severe weather.


​Effective November 1, IBC-supported content is being featured regularly on The Weather Network and MétéoMedia television, digital and social media platforms.

Sally Turney, IBC's Vice-President of Communications, said, "Severe weather has been happening in Canada with more frequency and greater intensity than ever before. We all know how much of an impact this has on consumers. Working with The Weather Network is a natural partnership that will allow IBC to reach new audiences and engage with consumers through channels they already use."

The property and casualty insurance industry continues to see more claims from violent storms, have been occurring more often right across Canada. From the wildfire in Alberta this summer to flooding in Cape Breton this fall, weather-related disasters are making it obvious that it's critical for people to understand their policies, talk to their insurance representatives and take steps to protect their families, properties and vehicles.

Over the next few weeks, visitors to The Weather Network and MétéoMedia websites will see more IBC-related content. And when severe weather strikes anywhere across the country, watch for IBC staff who will be providing advice on safety, emergency preparedness and, of course, insurance.
